ERNESTO DURAN
Born in Mexico City to architect parents, Ernesto Duran has been surrounded by art his entire life. His passion for nature and a fascination with collecting minerals and fossils from a young age set him on a unique path. At 24, he founded Pietra Gallery, initially focusing on local materials. However, his journey soon expanded as he traveled the globe, discovering new and extraordinary materials, each inspiring his designs. Over time, Ernesto has developed three divisions within the gallery, collaborated with various artists and materials, and established partnerships with distributors and three stores across Mexico, solidifying his influence in the world of natural art.
ORFEO QUAGLIATA
In the vibrant creative hub of Mexico City, Orfeo Quagliata stands out as an industrial designer transforming the world of glass art. Inspired by the dynamic interaction of light and color, Orfeo’s work ranges from stunning centerpieces to large-scale architectural installations that seamlessly blend art with functional design. He honed his craft in his father Narcissus Quagliata’s renowned glass studio and furthered his education at the California College of the Arts. Drawn by Mexico’s rich cultural scene, Orfeo established Studio Orfeo Quagliata in Mexico City, where he and his team produce bold, innovative glassworks. His signature techniques, such as Jimmiz Brainz and Barcodes, highlight his unique approach, characterized by vibrant, layered designs. Collaborations with brands like Swarovski and Samsung, along with participation in global design events, underscore Orfeo’s versatility and his redefinition of contemporary glass artistry.
