SEYMCHAN METEORITE
The Seymchan meteorite, discovered in 1967 in the Magadan district of Russia, is a rare and striking meteorite classified as both a pallasite and a nickel-iron meteorite. Initially thought to be purely metallic, later findings revealed beautiful olivine crystals embedded in the metal, making Seymchan a unique dual-type meteorite. The olivine crystals, ranging from translucent to golden-green, create a stunning visual contrast when cut into thin slices. These features, combined with its historical significance and extraterrestrial origin, make Seymchan a prized specimen for both collectors and scientific study, offering insights into the core-mantle boundaries of differentiated asteroids.
