ELEPHANT BIRD EGG
0
An elephant bird egg is a massive, fossilized egg laid by the extinct elephant bird (Aepyornis), which was native to Madagascar. These eggs are among the largest ever known, with some reaching up to 34 cm (13 inches) in length and holding a volume equivalent to about 150 chicken eggs. Elephant birds, which became extinct around 1,000 years ago, were flightless and could grow up to 3 meters (10 feet) tall. Their eggs are highly prized by collectors and offer a rare glimpse into the biology of these enormous birds that once roamed Madagascar.
