Georg Schmerholz is regarded as one of the most prominent and influential Western jade artists, earning multiple Gold and Silver Awards at Zi Gang Bei, the prestigious international jade competition in Suzhou, China.

Originally from Transylvania, Romania, Georg’s journey took him through Italy and Sweden before settling in Canada in the early 1970s. In British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest, he established himself as a prominent sculptor. In 2001, George relocated to Northern California, where he now lives and works on a secluded 10-acre property in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
